Five hundred billion stars because Greg!!

Annie’s live has never been in her control. Her condition has ruled every aspect of her life. The one thing she refuses to be controlled by her illness is her List, the one she diligently keeps and has every intention of fulfilling. She moves to New York with her family in hopes of starting all over.

Getting a job at Wasted Words was just one of many steps. The one person who was with her from that first step was Greg. As much as she tells her herself that he is just a friend, her heart refuses to comply.

Greg was enamored by Annie the moment he saw her. As much as he’d liked to go after her, he can’t. He is far too young for him on top of the fact that he’s her boss. But everyday spent with her makes him forget all the reasons why he shouldn’t pursue her. He knows she might break his heart but in matter of love sense rarely plays any role.

I just want to explain to you how much I freaking LOVED this story but there’s a 99% possibility that my ramblings won’t make a lick of sense.

Annie started as a naive girl who was experiences everything around her for the first time. She transformed into this beautiful woman who knew where she wanted her life to go. Her character development made me so proud I wanted to just hug her and cry for days.

I cannot even with Greg, y’all! I have lost the ability to can. *ugly crying* This man was so pure and good with the most beautiful soul and I just love him so damn much. I will never be over the fact that this man is so considerate, thoughtful and caring. Like I would give my kidney if there was a chance to bring Greg to life.

My heart aches in all the best places because this story will stay with me forever. I am planning to read it again and again till I can recite it by heart.

5 Stars!

See the city from the top of the Empire State Building: Check.
Eat hot dogs on the steps of The Met: Check.

What wasn’t on her list: Greg Brandon. And just when she thinks she’s figured out where to put him, everything changes. In the span of a few staggering heartbeats, she finds herself her caught in the middle of something she can’t find her way out of, with no clear answers and no rules.

List or no list, she realizes she can’t control anything at all, not even her heart.

Genre: Contemporary Romance

I wasn’t supposed to fall in love with the nanny.

When my wife left, she took the illusion of happiness with her, and I’ve been caught in a free fall ever since. For nine long months, I’ve been fighting to figure out how to be a single dad, how to be alone.

For nine long months, I’ve been failing.

When Hannah walked through the door, I took my first breath since I’d found myself on my own. She slipped into our lives effortlessly, showing me what I’ve been missing all these years. Because Hannah made me smile when I thought I’d packed the notion of happiness away with my wedding album.

She was only supposed to be the nanny, but she’s so much more.

The day my wife left should have been the worst day of my life, but it wasn’t. It was when Hannah walked away, taking my heart with her.

Excerpt:

CHARLIE

The next morning, I was up and in my office before anyone was awake, attacking my work with newfound enthusiasm and a plan in mind. Because I wanted to feel like I’d felt the night before in the kitchen again, and there was only one way to get that back.

Today, I would take a few breaks and be present. Today, I would change, work be damned. Today would mark the first real attempt. Because change wouldn’t happen on its own. I had to make it happen. And to make it happen, I would have to put boundaries in place, starting with my weekends.

I checked the clock around eleven that morning and closed my laptop, pushing away from my desk and heading up the stairs in search of my children.

When I rounded the corner into the kitchen, I found them sitting at the table with their lunches. And when they saw me, their smiles validated my grand plans with unwavering certainty.

“Hey, guys,” I said, smiling back as I walked over to them, ruffling Sammy’s hair when I passed him.

“Hi, Daddy,” he said.

Maven’s mouth was full, so she just waved, and Hannah smiled at me from the island where she was setting up a spread for sandwiches.

I snagged a grape off Maven’s plate and popped it into my mouth. She handed me another, which I accepted.

“Thanks, pumpkin.”

“Are you done working?” Sammy asked hopefully.

“’Fraid not, bud. But I thought I’d come have lunch with you. Is that okay?”

“Yeah! Want a Nilla Wafer?”

“Psh, obviously. And I thought we could play for a little bit before I have to get back to work. What do you say?”

He nodded, grinning. “We can play trucks! You be the bulldozer and I’ll be the tractor and Maven can be the monster truck and Hannah can be the ambulance because she helps people.”

“Perfect,” I said on a chuckle.

A burst of color caught my eye. A vase on the windowsill behind the table held a spray of red and orange tulips.

“Those are beautiful,” I said, gesturing to them. “Where did they come from?”

“Oh, I picked them up this morning,” Hannah said with that ever-present smile.

“Feeling homesick?”

“Always a little. But I love having fresh flowers in the house, something bright and delicate and alive. Well, maybe not alive anymore, but it feels alive, doesn’t it?”

“It does,” I said as I moved to her side.

“Can I make you a sandwich?” Hannah asked.

“Nah, I think I can manage, thanks. How’s it going this morning?”

“It’s good. We went to the park this morning.”

“I rode my bike!” Sammy crowed.

“Did you? No bumps or scrapes?”

“Nope!”

“I’m impressed. Maybe next time I can come too,” I said, hoping it was something I could deliver as I reached into the bread bag for a stack.

Hannah turned to the cupboard, returning with a plate for me.

“Thank you.”

She was still smiling, standing at my side, assembling her sandwich. It was so mundane, something completely and utterly boring, but like the weirdo that I was, I found myself watching her hands as she folded cold cuts. We worked around each other—not that it was complicated, but there was a sort of rhythm between us, a natural pace wherein I used what she wasn’t and finished just as she needed what I had. I wasn’t sure why I noticed it, but I did, and I appreciated the simple synchronicity of the moment, a breath where things were easy.

I passed her the mustard as she handed me the ham. “So, I was thinking …” I paused.

“Oh, were you?” She glanced over at me with a hint of mirth at the corners of her lips.

“I know. I almost sprained something.”

Hannah laughed gently.

“If it’s okay, I think I’d like to try to handle bedtime tonight.”

“Of course it’s okay; they’re your children.” That time, her laughter was sweet.

“Do you … would you … do you think you could maybe …”

She shifted to face me, her eyes full of encouragement.

“Would you mind … helping me?”

Hannah nodded, her smile opening up. “That’s what I’m here for. Just let me know what you’d like me to do.”

I smiled back. “I’m sorry. I know it sounds stupid. I just … I haven’t done this much on my own, but I’d like to start.”

Her eyes softened, caught by slanting light, lighting up with sunshine. “There’s nothing to be afraid of,” she said simply.

I didn’t speak.

“There’s no right or wrong, and they don’t care about anything other than you being there. It’s simple enough; you only have to try.”

“Is it really that easy?”

“It really is. You’ll see.” She reached for my arm and gave it a squeeze that wasn’t meant to be anything but friendly but held something more, something in the pressure in her fingertips and the depths of her eyes.

It was something I did my very best to ignore. But I felt the heat of those fingertips long after they were gone, even as we sat across the table from each other eating lunch, the tulips in the vase behind her bowing their long heads as the sunlight illuminated them, exposing what was hidden within their petals.

a little too late

Charlie has been struggling with his life, his wife and their kids. He has lost direction on how to raise his kids after Mary left him and now he desperately needs help.

Then comes Hannah with her perfect smiles and serene voice and suddenly all is good in Charlie’s house. The more time Charlie and the kids spend with Hannah, the more they are drawn to her. She was only supposed to be the nanny but to the kids who never knew a mother’s touch and a man whose heart has been broken too much, Hannah became everything.

OH GOD CHARLIE!!! This adorable pure Godsend man!!! I am again in eternal love with another of Staci’s books.

My heart broke for Charlie’s helplessness but to see him grow with his kids was an incredible experience. He knew he made mistakes and was ready to do anything to correct them. That’s a good man right there. Also how freaking hot was Charlie??? His internal tortured self made me swoon. Yes, I have issues.

The story is more than a simple man meets woman. The kind of love Staci portrayed in ALTL is to me one of the purest forms of love and to witness that is a fortune. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this story and seriously I want more and more and more.

5 Stars!

About the Author

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life — a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can’t forget that. She’s also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She’s been a wife, though she’s certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She’s also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she’s been drinking whiskey.

From roots in Houston to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she’s not writing, she’s reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.

From Darkness by Staci Hart

Publishing Date: September 28th, 2017

I never wanted to leave her. But I had no choice.

I’ve spent the last three years raising my daughter and wishing for things I couldn’t have. When I came back to New York, I thought I could find my way back to her. But that path was lost, grown over and hidden from everyone, especially me.

Her obsession over her best friend’s death is dangerous, and the man she’s after could put her life at stake. She’ll never let it go, not until he’s behind bars or dead.

She just doesn’t realize it might not be him who pays in the end.

If only she’d let me help her. If only she’d let me in. When she sets her mind to something, that’s it. But there’s an exception to every rule, and I plan to be the exception to this one.

And I’ll protect her until my very last breath, whether she wants me or not.

Excerpt:

Josie could feel Jon’s eyes on her, and her brow furrowed with discomfort as she put Chester in her back seat. She climbed in and turned the key, and Jon slipped in next to her, smelling like rain and leather and man.

She swallowed hard.

Should have made him sit in the back.

He grabbed her auxiliary cable and held up the end. “You mind?”

“Rude. But fine, go ahead and hijack my radio.”

He plugged his phone in, and trumpets blared in the speakers as “Ring of Fire” began.

She backed out of the parking spot and took off toward the police station. “You are such a southern boy.”

He looked at her like she had nine heads. “Southern or not, who doesn’t like Johnny Cash?”

Chester drunkenly sang along from the back seat.

Jon hitched his thumb at Chester, and a smile crept across his lips. “See?”

Josie’s eyes were on the road, but she found herself smiling despite herself. She snuck a glance over at him just as he looked away. The windows were cracked, and the wind whipped his hair out from behind his ear and across his face. His hand moved to tuck it back in place, and his fingers grazed the bridge of his nose.

She snapped her eyes forward and took a breath that was achingly full of Jon as Johnny sang about the fire that consumes hearts when they are stupid enough to fall in love.

Josie cleared her throat and turned the radio down, though Chester kept singing. They were otherwise silent through the short distance to the station, the quiet accompanied by the occasional glance from Jon, who was clearly entertained by Chester’s enthusiasm.

After they turned the flasher in, they made their way out of the station, neither knowing what to say as they descended the cement stairs.

They stopped for a moment when they reached the sidewalk.

Josie stuck her hands in her jacket pockets, suddenly feeling guilty for her refusal to take him back to his car and for being an ass to him. It wasn’t like he’d planned on crashing her job. She didn’t think at least.

“Listen,” she started, “I can take you back to your car if you want.”

Jon waved her off. “Don’t worry about it, Jo. Really.” He walked backwards with a smile on his face. “I’ll see you around, okay?” he said with a wink before he turned and walked away, whistling his beloved Johnny Cash all the way.

She watched Jon for a little too long before finding her senses and turning for her car, trying to talk herself down like she did every time she saw him.

He hurt you, she told herself.

He left you, she pleaded with her heart.

He chose her, was the only thought that made a dent, and she found her resolve as she drove away.

Shift by Staci Hart

Rating: ★★★★✰

As soon as I finished this book I went out to my balcony and screamed how much I love Staci.

It has been a hundred years since Ares had a taste of the woman he loves. She has avoided him at all costs but now that every last obstacle has been removed, he is ready to claim her as his once again. And this time he is not letting her go.

I am going to say it even though we all know and feel it. Staci is a genius when it comes to story telling. She takes everything you love and makes it tenfold better so you can’t do anything but rock yourself because you physically CANNOT handle something this amazing.

I thought I was prepared for Ares and Dita, Dillion and Kat but I was wrong. I was SO SO WRONG. Nothing could have prepared my heart for this. Dillion has my heart forever because GOD he is such a precious soul and he deserves all the happiness in this World.

I loved every character that Staci created and seriously the Gods acting as normal humans would just makes my soul happy. The entire premise is so refreshing and well crafted I just couldn’t help myself from falling in love with the Greek Gods all over again. THIS SERIES IS LIFE, Y’ALL!!

4 Stars!
