Blog Tour + Review – HARVEST OF SIGHS by Sierra Simone

Harvest of Sighs BT Banner

HARVEST OF SIGHS, Thornchapel Series book 3 by Sierra Simone, is available now!

Synopsis

The genius and the sunshine girl. As children, we fought bitterly and often, bickering every chance we got.

But then we grew up.
Then we came back.

Delphine Dansey carries her heart on the outside of her body; she’s looking for love and chasing dreams. She’s spoiled and selfish, the kind of beautiful that’s made for money and fame. But somehow she’s ended up in my keeping: a pretty submissive I can’t seem to resist, a lover who obsesses and tempts me.

I thought I’d locked my heart away a long time ago, along with all my other weaknesses. But some doors won’t stay closed, no matter how hard I fight to keep them shut. She unravels me, just like our friends are unraveling, just like Thornchapel itself is unraveling.

All year long, we’ve been sowing lust and jealousy and pain, heedless of the consequences. But a harvest is inevitable, and so now we must reap our sorrows.

And our sighs.

*Harvest of Sighs is Book Three in the Thornchapel series.*

harvest of sighs

I read this book in the span of three days because it was that difficult to read. You can actually feel the ginormous amount of sadness pouring out of the pages. But I powered through because of Sierra. Her writing is capable of making you forget your surroundings, your responsibilities. There is just something about her craft that pulls you in hard and fast.

I’ve said it before probably but it’s worth repeating, Sierra’s writing is unparalleled. Its hypnotic in the best sense and I can’t believe she did me so dirty with that ending.

I was intrigued, creep out, scared, sighing and just really captivated with how she described each and every Thornchapel related scene. And the ending made me scream. Not going to lie, I am definitely terrified of the last book because I just know things haven’t gone entirely wrong yet.

That being said, I am disappointed by some very important things in the book.

Even though this was supposed to be about Rebecca and Delphine, they felt like side characters to me and I think after this I am giving up on hoping for more from any of the characters except Auden, Poe and St. Sebastian.

Also, I don’t think this would be a HEA at this point and that’s a shame because we have so many tragic LGBTQ books and I just want someone to break from that mold and write happy queer stories.
