I have loved Carina since I read LOVERS and my heart was in my mouth because I was insanely excited for her to finally get her HEA.
I’ll start off my saying that Ian seemed like the perfect amount of light and sunshine to Carina’s broody and serious. She needed someone who showed her that life can be fun and exciting. My babe had been sad for too long and she HAD TO reach maximum happiness no matter what.
The Carina of this book felt and read differently than the Carina of LOVERS and I think it was intentional because of all that happened to her definitely changed her. The only thing is I felt sort of detached from her in this book.
Not to be bare minimum but Ian talking to Audrey like she’s the love of his life increased my lifespan by ten years. I think he’s one of my favourite fictional dad.
I really really didn’t think it would happen but I couldn’t 100% feel the romance between Carina and Ian. I don’t understand why that felt prominent to me while I was reading but it did and I just didn’t feel connected to them as a couple most of the time.
That last tidbit with Hanna and her potential man has me in pieces. I need it too much to function properly.
3.5 Stars!
