Frances finally has a chance to become whatever she wants and live her life as she sees fit. She deserves it after the horrible plans her parents had for her marriage. She was going to let her life guide her, then she met a stranger who gave her sweet kisses and now she’s smitten beyond reason.
Her chance encounter stays just that for several months. Then she finds out the man who kissed her is a Duke himself.
David was gone for the girl he met during an ice storm. But the promises he made in the past stopped him fro pursuing anything. Months passed, now he’s face to face with the woman who entranced him and he can’t stay away no matter how hard he tries.
These two are ready to embark on a journey of love unaware of the secrets that tie their families together. Secrets that could ruin everything.
I am always in awe of the way Darcy Burke writes her characters and makes them unique but at the same time entirely relateable. It’s always an utter joy to read her stories because they leave me pleasantly surprised and weirdly satisfied.
Frances was such a joy. I loved reading her story. I absolutely relate to her clumsiness and how she got into trouble because she couldn’t stand straight. I just really felt that cuz it’s me. She is also such a ray of sunshine and positivity that you have to like her. She also never fails from speaking her mind and I really dig that.
David was a good character but I didn’t fall head over heels for him. I absolutely agree that he is perfect for Frances and I adore how he loves her. But i just didn’t feel very connected to him or his motivations.
This was a very good story with an unexpected twist that I did not see coming. The little pinch of mystery was cherry on top.
However, I am very much looking forward to the next book in this series which I feel would be really stimulating. *wink wink*
