Sitting here wondering how Kate Canterbary changed my entire life.
Sheriff Jackson Lau’s life has been a constant rat race since her laid his eyes upon the beautiful book owner, Annette. He can’t go near her and since her store is just in front of his office, he can’t really escape her. So he suffers from a distance, hoping one day he can confess his true feelings for the town’s sweetheart.
Annette lives life on her own terms even if those terms border on delusions of getting together with a man who could never want her. Heartbroken, she does what anyone would do; GET SHIT DRUNK! The Sheriff comes to her rescue and what does Annette do? She kisses and humps him and makes lewd suggestions. Nothing could be more embarrassing.
He’s practically been in love with her for months. All she’s dreamed about is a life with a man not for her. Can these two find true happiness in each other?
This book blew me away. I read it in one sitting and I didn’t even get up to drink water. I was so sure I was going to miss something because that’show books work and that’s how engrossed I was.
Annette is not an easy person to like. She has an entire life planned out with a man who she doesn’t even know if he likes her. She indulged in those delusions too much and is suffering through a heartbreak. Even though I wanted to shake her, I understand her reasons and absolutely get her. I adore her even if she makes me old with anxiety.
Oh Jackson, my sweet summer child! I have never fallen in love with a character as fast as I fell in love with Sheriff Lau. He is just so good and pure and caring but at the same time absolutely dirty and filthy. UNNNFFFF I LOVE THIS MAN!!! I swooned so hard whenever he talked about Annette. His words, actions, everything seeped of love for Anne and just GIVE ME A MAN THIS DEVOTED PLEASE LORD I BEG!!!!!!
This story was my first KC read and now I’m a stalker level fan of hers for life. The story is sweet, sexy, quirky and so damn beautiful, I want to read it all day every day for the next 5 years.
5 Stars!

Synopsis:
Dear Jackson,
I’m leaving you this note because I know you’re very busy and I don’t want to waste the town sheriff’s time. Lord knows I’ve already wasted enough of it.
Thank you for taking me home last night and…everything else. I made you a basket of wild blueberry muffins for your trouble. That seemed like the appropriate baked good for getting naked in your living room.
I wasn’t myself last night. I didn’t mean to kiss you or fondle your backside or ask all those intimate questions. Thank you for pretending to enjoy it.
It was very noble of you to sleep on the couch while I was starfished on your bed. I couldn’t help but notice it’s quite large. The bed, that is. I swear, I didn’t notice anything else when I let myself out this morning.
As you know, Talbott’s Cove is a ridiculously small town and there’s no chance we can avoid each other. Not that I’d want to avoid you, of course, but I’m not sure I can look at you without thinking of the forty different ways I made a fool of myself.
Instead of avoidance, let’s try to be friends. We’ll forget all about last night…if that’s what you want.
Please burn this note after you read it—
Annette
p.s. I whipped up some cinnamon buns, too. Please enjoy them. I’m not sure why, but I couldn’t get buns out of my mind today.
