I feel like this book gave me heart problems and this is just the first in the series so what the fuck will even happen to me?
Every bone in my body was aware of this story. That is how it affected me. My senses were working overtime. I was hyperventilating, too excited to do anything but keep reading and at one point I had to actually walk away from the book. I wanted to walk repeatedly into walls because I DID NOT KNOW HOW TO COPE.
This book is not for the faint of heart. I swear to God you need to be 100% okay because this is not just a read. Itโs a fucking experience that will consume me, overwhelm you and leave you wanting more and more.
Caden is so broken SO BROKEN he actually defines the word and owns itโs royalties. I wanted to reach into the book and hug the fuck out of this man. I was actually immensely proud of him for being so courageous about everything that was happening. His honesty is what made me love him. Also, I just bloody adore his crazy. Yโall arenโt ready for this man and never will be.
Greryson is my darling. This woman deserves all the awards in the World for being a legit badass. Her strength is phenomenal because the way she loves Caden and the way he reciprocated it, (in fucking spades, btw) cannot be possible between ordinary mortals. So yeah itโs possible Greyson is secretly Diana Prince and we might never know.
CD Reiss wrote this like weโre in the middle of Renaissance and is delivering the people with a World class Gothic novel. I still have chills people and I read this two weeks ago.
I am so obsessed with this story and cannot wait to read more.
5 Stars!

Excerpt
In the dark, during the fundraising video, she leaned into me, taking my hand. โWhatโs going on?โ
โNothing.โ
โCaden.โ My name was more than a statement. It was a comment on how well she knew the animal, and how well she loved it.
If eyes could listen, hers did, gazing at me in the darkness. I couldnโt lie to her for much longer.
The entire invite list was watching the video. The bar was empty. The hallway lights were dimmed. The kitchen staff moved constantly and quietly to set up the buffet.
I laced my fingers in hers. She had a gold band weโd gotten out of expediency. No big sparkling rock. No sign Iโd ever courted her properly before marrying her.
My father always said a man didnโt skip steps if he wanted to do something once.
I slid my cheek to hers and whispered in her ear, โI want to destroy you.โ
Her hand tightened in mine so tightly I could feel our bones. Her glands must have fired, because the apples and the perfume melded and became something so uniquely her my balls achedโbut not for simple release. For something more. An agreement of ownership.
Waiting wasnโt an option.
Pulling her by the hand, I headed for the hallway.
โCaden,โ she said when we were away from the event, โslow down.โ
I didnโt. I couldnโt. I pulled her down the carpeted steps to the lower level, stepping over a velvet rope at the bottom. The lights were out in the hall. Three doors led to three empty event rooms.
โWhatโs with you lately?โ she asked.
โAre you saying no?โ
โIโm asking a question.โ
I backed into one of the rooms and pulled her in. It was dark but for light coming from under the doorways on each side. I walked in deeper, eyes adjusting quickly enough to avoid the tables and stacks of chairs on wheeled dollies.
โSo am I.โ I faced her. โAre you saying no?โ
โWhat are you hoping Iโll say yes to?โ
โIโm going to pull that dress up until I can get to these hard nipples.โ I pinched them through the dress and she gasped. โThen Iโll bend you over one of these tables and fuck you so hard walkingโs going to hurt. Are you saying no?โ
โIโm not. But I want to know whatโs going on with you.โ
โPull your dress up before I shred it.โ
About the Author
CD Reiss is a New York Times bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn’t pick up she’s at the well hauling buckets.
Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master’s degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels.
She’s frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn’t ever gotten her out of chopping that cord of wood.
If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.
